COMMITTEE/TASK FORCE PURPOSES

SPECIAL NOTE: The committee purposes stated are general. Specific duties may be required of each committee based upon the Strategic Plan as adopted by the Association, and upon review by the Board of Directors.

Bylaws/Board PolicyThe committee shall review the bylaws and other organizing documents of the Board and recommend changes that may be appropriate. When called upon the Board of Directors, the committee shall draft changes as recommended by NAR.
Credentials/ElectionsIn accordance with the bylaw provisions, the committee members will be appointed by the President of each respected board. The committee shall review applications submitted for consideration and recommend a proposed slate for election.
EducationThe Education Committee is responsible for the coordination of all educational activities of the Board. The Chairman shall work directly with the President and the Board of Directors as well as the Executive Officer, in the development of special seminars or any other matters which pertain to the educational needs of the Board, and shall submit by February of each year, in writing, the dates and nature of any proposed seminars or educational programs for the next year. The Education Committee will be responsible for the Board’s Indoctrination Course.
Executive/FinanceThis Committee is made up of the officers of the Board and MLS, and can act in the absence of a quorum of the Directors on any issue coming before it. Reviews and reports to the Board of Directors periodic financial reports and submits a proposed budget each year to the Board of Directors. To review any request for monies not already in the budget and recommended to the Directors its opinion of requested expenditures. To review anticipated income and expenses and recommend investments of reserve funds.
Government AffairsCollectively works with the state association on legislative issues effecting Real Estate. Sends questionnaires to candidates on issues related to Real Estate. Keep membership informed on all issues related to real estate. (City, County, State, and Federal). Periodically reports to the Board of Directors on committee activities.
Membership and Board ServicesIt is the responsibility of the committee to develop promotional material of all members and non members that will stress the value of board services and will provide incentive and stimulus to increase membership. It shall review and determine the qualifications for membership per the Bylaw, and makes recommendations to the KVBR Board of Directors for approval.
MLS CommitteeThe Kanawha Valley Multiple Listing Service, Inc. (KVMLS) has been providing multiple listing services to it participants since its inception in 1965. KVMLS is one of the largest Multiple Listing Service’s (MLS) in West Virginia, delivering MLS data to over 650 participants and subscribers. Our service area includes all of Kanawha, Putnam, Jackson, Lincoln, Boone and portions of Clay, Cabell, Fayette, Mason, Nicholas, Wayne Wood, and Wirt Counties.
Strategic PlanningThe committee formulates, studies, and recommends policy and plans for the continuing progressive operations of the association in future years and advances the inclusive date of the strategic plan by one year from the last adopted plan
