GUEST SPEAKER POLICY AND PROCEDURES

The Kanawha Valley Board of REALTORS® and the Kanawha Valley Multiple Listing Service recognize the value of guest speakers from inside and outside the organization. The KVBR and KVMLS encourage interested parties to submit proposals for speaking engagements to the board office for review by the Education Committee’s Guest Speaker Task Force.

Role of a Guest SpeakerThe Guest Speaker’s presentation should provide the members of the KVBR and KVMLS with a learning experience in specialized knowledge and or skills. Content should be general in nature and NOT designed to promote a specific product or service. The material presented should be timely, relevant and meet the objectives set forth as stated in the completed Guest Speaker’s Proposal which must be completed and forwarded to the Education Committee Guest Speaker Task Force.
General Policies and ProceduresGuest Speakers must fill out the Guest Speaker Proposal Form. The Education Committee’s Guest Speaker Task Force will review all submitted forms and pass recommendations on to the Education Committee. The Education Committee will vote to accept or reject the proposal.

To conserve costs the KVBR / KVMLS requests speakers to bring their own materials to approved speaking engagements. In the event the speaker requires materials, advance approval for reimbursement is required from the staff of the KVBR / KVMLS.

Guest Speakers are to be advised that photographs and or recordings might be taken and recorded during their speaking engagement. Speakers also agree that any photograph may be used at the discretion of the KVBR / KVMLS for the purpose of promoting the KVBR / KVMLS and its members.

Non-Affiliate members who wish to provide a presentation to KVBR membership or approved continuing education course will be required to pay $140.00 and become an affiliate member for the remainder of that year and will be billed for the next year, where at that time, they may choose to renew their affiliation. Payment must be provided with application and will be refunded if proposal is not approved.

Guest speakers should be chosen for membership meetings such as stockholders, annual membership etc… by the education committee based upon strategic plan objectives, you will not be required to submit the $140.00. If you are an existing KVBR member (REALTOR® or Affiliate), you will not be required to submit $140.00; only the Guest Speaker Application.
