Penny Skaff is Broker/Owner of American Dream Realty in South Charleston, WV. Her real estate career began in Charleston, SC in 1982. For the first two and half years she worked for a real estate broker who represents a volume builder. Penny planned her sub-divisions and sold only new construction during that time. After a few years she decided to get into general real estate sales. New construction sales was great experience, but it was time to widen her horizons. She got her Brokers license and went to work for Merrill Lynch Real Estate which was then purchased by Prudential’s real estate division. This was a large company that opened up a whole new realm of experience. After ten years in real estate sales, Penny was recruited to become a mortgage loan officer. She originated mortgages for four years before moving back to West Virginia in 1998. Going back to real estate sales in West Virginia was really a whole new experience. A lot of things were different, but one thing remained the same. The basics of the real estate industry are pretty much the same wherever you go. In 2004 Penny and her husband Ron decided to open their own real estate company, and they continue to work together today at American Dream Realty.
The Kanawha Valley Board of Realtors awarded Penny the Hart Award in 2004 and in 2006. This award is in recognition of work done in the community to help others. In Penny’s opinion this is still the most precious award she has ever received, and there have been many over the years. In 2012 she received the Chairperson of the Year Award for her work on the Membership and Board Services Committee. Penny has served on numerous committees at the Kanawha Valley Board of Realtors including Education, MLS, The Foundation, Membership and Board Services, Forms, Nominations, and Awards. She has served as a Director on the Kanawha Valley Board of Directors for several years and is Secretary Of the Board of Directors and a member of the Executive Committee since January of 2015.
